Clients are what makes Versorge a business: without clients we would just be hobbyist programmers. Furthermore, it is a fact that no one will know more about how your business should run than you (the business owner). Therefore clients come first in dictating project direction.
We operate with the understanding that since the client is an expert at their own business, they will be the ultimate authority in project decisions. However, it is our business to ensure that everyone involved in the project contributes their strengths. If you are in the shoe business, then you are likely to know a lot about shoes (probably a lot more than we know). It is our duty to listen to you (the business owner), understand what you would like to accomplish, and create a plan to make your vision a reality. We don't expect you to be experts in web development. That is our job.
If you are interested, we are happy to teach you about the technical things that we can do for you. Many clients desire to be intimately and actively involved in the project. Such clients will gain valuable knowledge through the course of their project, since we will take the time to empower such clients to make educated decisions at every project iteration.
Other clients come to us without the time (or desire) to learn about the technical details of a web application. They acknowledge the fact that we thoroughly enjoy making web applications every day, and that we are pretty good at what we do. When this is the case, we still listen to the client's vision and repeat it back to them to make sure that we are correctly understanding their desires. We translate project vision into a technical agenda and begin the iterative process of agile development.
